Another exciting whole school project! The Mosaic Garden Mural has transformed the narrow enclosed playground used by reception children, by softening the vertical lines of the long wall, adding vibrant colour and an incredibly varied textural surface.
Pupils created many varieties of clay flower heads, plaster cast them and used them as press moulds to make multiples. These were painted with underglaze pigments, glazed and fired.
The clay elements were used in combination with domestic tile and glass mosaic tessera on wooden panels by small groups of pupils.
The different ‘jigsaw’ sections of the mural were assembled and fixed to the wall when complete.
